by Tim Deen) After Carter, Steve received his B.S. from UT Austin,
Medical Degree from UTSWMB at Galveston, Residency in Emergency
Medicine at Tulane U. in New Orleans. He set up his ER practice in
Houston. At that time he was 33 years old. Shortly after that time
he became ill and passed away in 1989 at the age of 36. He is
remembered by his family and friends as the GREAT guy he was. He
is survived by his mother (Bea) and three brothers (Gary, Tim,
& Larry).

Dallas. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, sons Robert, Jr., Ryan,
step-sons, Mike Willis & David Bowers Jr., daughters Tonya and Sarah and
3 grandchildren. Robert is also survived by his father Everett and
mother Helen Goolsby, brother James and sister Patricia and
mother-in-law, Mary Donnelly. Visitation will be Thursday 4-7 pm and the
Funeral Service will be 2 pm Friday, Nov. 7, 2003 at Jeter & Son Chapel.

IBSEN
JEFFREY JOHN, 49, passed away March 29, 2001 in Dallas. Born December 4,
1951 in Chicago, IL. to Nels Bagger Ibsen and Alma Nolan Ibsen. He grew up
in a military Army Air Force Exchange Service family. He lived in Chicago,
New Jersey, Germany, and Dallas. Jeff was a graduate of David W. Carter High
School in Dallas and received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration
from T. C. U. in Ft. Worth. Immediately after graduation he began a career
with AAFES. He rose from a college trainee to Sr. Vice President, following
in his fathers footsteps. He served in many locations around the globe,
proudly serving military families. While serving in Okinawa he met and
married Ruriko Otsuka. They have made their home in Dallas since 1997.
Survivors include, his wife, Ruriko; brother, Nels Thomas Ibsen; sisters;
Nelia Schrum and Brenda Alonso; mother, Alma Nolan Ibsen; step mother, Julia
Ibsen; three nieces and two nephews. Jeff's family will receive friends at
Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday,
April 1, 2001. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday April
2, 2001 at St. Monica Catholic Church, Midway Road and Walnut Hill Lane,
Dallas. Rev. Jonathan Austin, Celebrant.

KIMMICK
LT. COL. LEONARD, JR., USA-RET. of Lancaster, TX. Born in Honolulu,
Hawaii on June 7, 1926. Passed away in Dallas, Texas on June 14, 2001.
Served in the U.S. Army from 1945 until his retirement in 1967. Received
the Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal with First and Second Oak Leaf
Clusters, Army Commendation Medal and numerous other medals and
citations. After retirement from the U. S. Army, he became the ROTC
Commandant at David W. Carter High School in Dallas, TX. The "Colonel"
marched the halls of CHS until his retirement in 1988. Leonard was a
part time history instructor at Cedar Valley College since the doors
opened in 1977, and had spent four semesters at Eastfield prior to 1977.
He was honored with the "Excellence in Teaching Award" in 1990. Received
BS from University of Nebraska at Omaha and MA from Southern Methodist
University. Life member TROA and member of GDROA. Member of the First
United Methodist Church of Lancaster. Leonard is survived by wife,
Marcella Kimmick; daughter, Karen Morse of Dallas; son and
daughter-in-law, Bruce and Anne Kimmick of Denver, CO; son-in-law,
Norman Martin; three granddaughters, Amanda Wallace, Meagan Martin and
Kathryn Kimmick; four grandsons, Jacob Harris, Matthew Martin, Kyle
Kimmick and Keenan Kimmick; one great grandson, Shane Moore. Preceded in
death by daughter, Florence Lynn Martin; parents, Leonard and Florence
Kimmick; and son-in-law, Joseph "Buck" Morse. Family will receive
friends from 5-7 Sunday evening at funeral home. Funeral services at
1:30 PM Monday, June 18, 2001, at Byrum Funeral Home with Rev. Larry
Krohn officiating. Graveside service at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 19, at
Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may

Harold
Lichtenwald, a Dallas teacher, principal and administrator for more than
30 years, died Wednesday of complications from Parkinson's disease and
diabetes at Brentwood Nursing Home in Dallas. He was 80.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Colonial
Baptist Church, 6459 Scyene Road in Dallas. Burial will be at 10 a.m.
Monday at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. The family will
receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920
Samuell Blvd. in Dallas.
In addition to his years in public schools, Mr.
Lichtenwald was also music director for Baptist churches in Denton,
Grapevine, Dallas, Garland and Healdton, Okla. In Dallas, Mr.
Lichtenwald was music director for Colonial Baptist Church three
different times over 10 years and at Ridgecrest Baptist Church twice for
a total of five years.
Whether he was in school or in church, Mr.
Lichtenwald tried to make a difference, said his daughter Mary Lee
Kjorvestad of Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica.
"If he took you under his wing, you'd be soaring very
soon," she said. "... He didn't just help people. He taught them to
change their lives."
Born in Longmont, Colo., Mr. Lichtenwald grew up in
Muscatine, Iowa, where he graduated from high school in 1940.
After serving in the Army's Cactus Division in France
and Germany during World War II, he moved to Texas, where he had been
stationed.
He attended Oklahoma Baptist University and received
bachelor's and master's degrees in music education from North Texas
State College, now the University of North Texas.
He taught in Grapevine and Kermit, Texas, for three
years before joining the Dallas Independent School District in 1954.
In 1957 he was named principal of Robert E. Lee
Elementary and held the same position at Sidney Lanier Elementary, Sarah
Zumwalt Junior High and W.H. Atwell Junior High.
In 1966 he was the first principal at David W. Carter
High School. In 1972 he became the district's director of special
education. He retired in 1981 but worked as a DISD consultant from 1983
to 1986.
In addition to his daughter, Mr. Lichtenwald is
survived by his wife, Cleva Lichtenwald of Dallas; another daughter,
Melinda Roberson of Beaumont; sisters Esther Pulliam of Muscatine, Helen
Cline of Greenville, Ruth Sullivan of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Betty
Johnson of Letts, Iowa; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Dallas Area Parkinson's

MOUNT
GEORGE E. Born December 10, 1916 in Saratoga, Texas and passed away
October 26, 2001 in Dallas. He is survived by his wife of 61 years,
Nadine Mount; sons: George R. Mount and wife, Priscilla; Jimmy Mount and
wife, Lynda; Lester Mount and wife, Pamela; Ralph Mount; 7 grandchildren
and 6 great grandchildren. George was a WW II veteran serving in the
144th Infantry; and was wounded during campaigns in the Asiatic-Pacific
Theater of Operations earning the Bronze Star and Purple Heart Medals.
He retired as a Math Teacher serving David Carter High School and the
Dallas Independent School District from 1957 to 1979. George was a
member of Disabled American Veterans organization where he was a Past
Commander and Past District II Commander. He was a Holy Master in the
Oak Cliff Masonic Lodge, and a dedicated volunteer with the VA Hospital.
Services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, October 29, 2001 at LAUREL LAND
MEMORIAL CHAPEL, interment at Laurel Land Memorial Park. The family will
receive friends from 4-6 PM, Sunday at the funeral home. Laurel Land
